WCG’s Assessment Methodologies have been developed to assist organizations in the assessment and management of the hard and soft dollar costs associated with the ownership and use of IT. They are designed to identify and quantify how organizations can reduce the costs associated with owning, maintaining and using IT. They provide IT managers with specific strategies for lowering the total cost of ownership of their complete IT infrastructure. They provide a quantitative framework for assessing and managing the cost implications of changes in technology, IT decisions and implementation strategies.

The assessment methodologies are intended for use by IT consultants, and systems integrators. They can also be used by internal IT departments and asset managers that wish to obtain a detailed inventory of their IT assets and their associated TCO. The methodologies are supported by the WCG TCO e-Valuator software, which is used to collect the IT asset information and perform the TCO analysis.
